Nicola Sturgeon has announced that more than half of Scotland’s population is now fully vaccinated against the coronavirus.
Speaking at the Scottish Government’s coronavirus briefing, the Prime Minister said: ‘Today’s vaccine figures take us a pretty big step forward.

“Over 60% of those eligible for the vaccine have now received both doses, but to date more than 50% of the entire population is now fully vaccinated.

“This is an important step and one that will increase our levels of protection against this virus. “

It comes as Scotland has recorded four coronavirus patient deaths and 3,823 cases in the past 24 hours.

The Prime Minister told a Scottish government briefing on the coronavirus that the death toll under this daily measurement – of people who have tested positive for the virus for the first time in the previous 28 days – is now from 7,726.

The positivity rate for daily tests is 10.8%, compared to 10.5% the day before.

A total of 285 people were hospitalized Thursday with recently confirmed Covid-19, up 10, with 19 patients in intensive care, up from three.

So far, 3,831,770 people have received the first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine and 2,737,347 have received their second dose.
