California Capitol Reinstates Mask Mandate After COVID Outbreak – .

California has reinstated a mask mandate for all lawmakers and state Capitol employees regardless of vaccination status following an outbreak of nine cases of COVID-19 there.

The nine people who contracted COVID are legislative staff, four of whom have been fully vaccinated.

As of now, people are required to wear a mask at all times while in the Capitol, Legislative Office building and district offices, wrote Senate Secretary Erika Contreras and Executive Director of the Assembly Debra Gravert in memos Tuesday.

Unvaccinated lawmakers and Assembly and Senate employees must also be tested for the coronavirus twice a week, starting Thursday. Contreras urged lawmakers and vaccinated employees to be tested voluntarily.
