British Health Secretary Sajid Javid tested positive for coronavirus on Saturday and is currently self-isolating, he said in a video message.

“I was feeling a little groggy last night so I did a lateral flow test this morning and it turned out positive,” Javid said in a video post he posted to his Twitter account. “So I now self-isolate at home with my family until I get the result of a PCR test. I am grateful to have received two injections of the vaccine. And so far my symptoms are very mild. “

He also urged people to get vaccinated against COVID-19 as soon as possible, in his video post. “Please make sure to show up for your vaccine if you haven’t already,” he tweeted.

Its positive result came shortly before the UK plans to lift all Covid regulations and reopen the economy, even as coronavirus infections are on the rise.

Javid took over as health secretary on June 26, after former minister Matt Hancock had to resign after video evidence revealed he flouted Covid regulations by kissing a close aide in a case secret.

Under regulations imposed by Boris Johnson’s government, Javid will now have to self-isolate until he tests negative for the coronavirus in a PCR test and reports no symptoms for the deadly virus.
