The Boston Celtics selected France G Juhann Begarin with the No.45 pick in the second round of the 2021 NBA Draft on Thursday night.
The Celtics are in a period of flux within this current regime. Danny Ainge is absent and Brad Stevens is in charge of making decisions about basketball. Ime Udoka has been hired to replace Stevens as head coach. Kemba Walker was traded to OKC Thunder after the signing failed. So Boston is left with a solid core of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, but there are still plenty of question marks as to how the team can overcome the bump.
The Celtics don’t have much in terms of gross assets, but have a bit of room to play with this offseason. Many have linked Boston to potential business targets such as Washington Wizards SG Bradley Beal. This seems overkill given the packages that other franchises may offer in Washington. Ultimately, the Celtics will need young players like Robert Williams, Payton Pritchard and Aaron Nesmith to grow and develop. Or the team will look to add a third star to Tatum and Brown.
N ° 45, second round: Juhann Begarin, G, France
Juhann Bégarin – The Celtics traded Kemba Walker, but don’t expect Begarin to get many minutes or opportunities early. Boston will rely heavily on Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum for much of the season, which means Begarin won’t be a big commodity in the fantasy basketball or DFS rosters.
