Booker T on CM Punk could sign with AEW: “My thing is that, far from the eyes, far from the spirits. CM Punk has been out of the game for a minute… ..I don’t hate anything like that, but my thing is. Even though I have a physique as good as the one I have now at 56, when I hit my forties, my forties, even though I looked fine I had a phobia to take off my shirt in the locker room with the young people. I had an unconscious thing that I was working with there and I thought maybe my time was up, maybe it’s time for me to start doing something else, and man I’m losing a step . I started to question myself when I reached a certain age. This is where I come from with the CM Punk thing. Can he go and do it again? Yes, but has the game changed dramatically over the past seven years? Yes, I think so.
On whether AEW or WWE makes more sense for Punk at this point in his career: “I think the best place for CM Punk is the place that wants it. The place that wants it the most. I’m serious, that’s how I see this thing. CM Punk has been out of WWE for some time. He didn’t leave in the best of conditions or something like that. Will he be welcome if he comes back? I’m sure it is, but is AEW a softer landing point, maybe something new and a fresh start? Maybe yeah. I think the place that wants it the most is where CM Punk needs to be. I don’t care if it’s New Japan, AEW or WWE.
If Daniel Bryan goes to AEW influences CM Punk in one way or another and if Punk is on the AEW roster: “Me personally, I can’t say yes or no because I don’t know how good friends these guys were. I know CM Punk, when he left the company he cut ties with just about everyone. I can tell you this, nobody’s decision ever influenced me to do anything in the business. I think Punk is going to mingle with more people at AEW these days than he would in WWE. I think the WWE roster is totally different other than a few guys like Roman [Reigns], Seth [Rollins], [Rey] Mysterio. But I don’t know how well he got along with these guys.
