Big E on its Mt. Rushmore wrestling teams: “I’m very self-deprecating so it’s hard for me to position ourselves as the best team ever. I am very grateful that a lot of people did. I’m very proud of our accolades, I think we really deserve to be in the conversation. Until Mt. Rushmore of the tag teams I would put the Road Warriors. Dude, there are so many good ones. Let’s go Road Warriors let’s Edge and Christian let’s go Dudley Boys and for my final team let’s go Harlem Heat. I loved Harlem Heat as a kid, I thought they were great, they had a lot of boast, they were very cool, they were in the ring. There will definitely be a team that I forgot and I will feel bad about it, but yeah, those are my picks.
“I think there are a ton of amazing tag teams out there and I think if you’re around my age or a little older, if you’re a mature wrestling fan and grew up in the 90s or 80 or even earlier I think for a lot of people nostalgia is such a big part of their wrestling fandom and I think it’s hard for a lot of people to select a more modern team, a team that is currently on the television. When you think of the golden age, the golden age of wrestling, you think back to the ’90s, you think back to the age of attitude. There are so many teams that are so influential that I think that’s it for a lot of fans. I think that’s why they might struggle with choosing The New Day, but honestly I’ve also seen a lot of positive reception, a lot of people who really appreciate everything we’ve done and given. So I am very grateful. I’ll just say I’m grateful for the selection, I’m grateful for all the time I’ve spent with Kofi and Woods and I’m really proud of everything we’ve done.
Big E thinks New Day can be on the same show and still compete in singles: “I think we can do both. I would love to be on the same show together. I miss these guys very much. Kofi was able to continue his bachelor job while the three of us were on the same show. I would love to do that and I think the beautiful thing is that it just gives us options. Like we can, if we wanted to we can have a promo or a behind-the-scenes segment where we say ‘Hey Kofi and Woods, thank you, but I’m gonna run my business and you guys run your business. and when the time is right, we’ll get back together. I think it’s an easy way to go our separate ways and still be on the same show. But then when you need it you can come back and you can do six man tags, you can do tag team matches and we can all come back and be in the same scenario together. We can do something like work The Bloodline, like have a feud with Roman and The Usos, you know? I think it’s so much better to have the three of us on the same show. It gives you so many unique storytelling opportunities and I think that’s something we’ve missed to be on different shows. And I think if you watch it, if you’re a fan of The New Day, from now on we’re represented on both shows. But selfishly, I wish we were all on the same show and in my opinion it should be SmackDown. I would love for them to come back to SmackDown. I love being at SmackDown and would love to have them here with me.
His thoughts on Conor McGregor who might get into wrestling: “I guess Conor will continue to fight in the UFC. When it comes to his ability to cross paths, I will never roll my eyes or be mad at a celebrity or athlete from another sport with opportunities in WWE. For one, I realized from day one that it wasn’t my ball. I’m not running this business, you know what I mean and I’m wasting time or energy figuring out who hired or hired, it’s a waste, it’s really a waste. I think Conor, if he’s coming to WWE, if he’s been brought in, how could I complain? He’s a huge star. He was number one on the Forbes list of athletes around the world last year, he was the highest paid athlete in the world and he’s a huge star. It’s a bigger name than me, it’s pretty clear and a bigger name than almost everyone else we have here. In addition to his crossover ability, if you ask your neighbor down the street who it is, there’s a good chance he’ll know Conor McGregor is. So yeah, I would never have a problem with that. Not everyone would welcome him or feel the same, but he is extremely entertaining. And I think if he came to WWE I think he would get a lot of attention. I think it would be worth the investment, I’m sure for a lot of people so yeah I wouldn’t have a problem with that. Am I necessarily going to beat the drum for it to come? No I’m not. I’m not necessarily happy you know? I wouldn’t mind at all. that would probably have a lot of positives, so yeah, if that’s something he wanted to do I guess. For me, I guess the only stuff that bothers me, and it’s not for me to really judge it, but it’s the legal stuff, you know what I mean? I’m a little proud when I look in our locker room, and I’m not saying things are perfect, but I want to be in a locker room with people who are good people who obey the law, you know what I want say? Who don’t have any trouble and that’s the only thing. There are things he did that I wish he hadn’t, but then again, who am I to lay the foundation stone? So if you know anything if he is coming and portraying himself well and behaving in a respectful way, so be it. “
