According to the Dallas Morning News, O’Rourke, whose national profile soared in 2018 as he campaigned to topple Sen. Ted CruzRafael (Ted) Edward CruzCruz trolled on Twitter for criticizing Democrats who fled Texas. The group of Democratic state lawmakers are reportedly staying in a hotel near the White House and are expected to stay in Washington for a month, racking up thousands of dollars in daily expenses.

Dozens of state Democrats fled Texas on Monday in an attempt to deny Republicans the quorum needed for a special legislative session, delaying consideration of the elections bill.
