Country singer Ashley Monroe has revealed she suffers from rare blood cancer.
The 34-year-old posted a lengthy Instagram post on Tuesday in which she announced that she was starting chemotherapy after being diagnosed with Waldenström’s macroglobulinemia, a type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
“It makes my body quite severely anemic, and I can feel it. So I start chemo tomorrow, ”Monroe wrote.
“Sounds like such a negative thing to say,” she added. “Until I get over that unhappy feeling and think, wow, I’m thankful that I have a disease that I can VERY live with. I am thankful that there is a treatment that actually works to fight what is causing damage to my body.

Sharing a montage of photos of her loved ones, including her husband John Danks and their three-year-old son Dalton.
She explained that she found out she was anemic a few months ago when her doctor performed routine lab work.
“I was like, FINE, I’m just going to double the cheeseburger patties, take some extra vitamins and call it a day. Well, my red blood cell count kept going down, and they found out that my iron / b12 / folic acid count was actually good, ”explained Monroe.
A bone marrow biopsy led to the diagnosis and after doing her research and weighing her options, she said, she decided on treatment.
Rare Cancer: Monroe, who has three-year-old son Dalton, said routine lab work revealed she was anemic and a bone marrow biopsy confirmed she had Waldenström’s macroglobulinemia .

“I was hesitant to post about it, but I could use prayers… and I believe in the power of prayer guys. I also believe in the power of love that heals us all on an even deeper level. I love you all very much, ”she told her fans.
Monroe has collaborated with some of the biggest names in the country including Ronnie Dunn of Brooks & Dunn, Blake Shelton, Vince Gill and Alison Krauss.
She is also a member of Pistol Annies, a trio she formed with Miranda Lambert and Angaleena Presley in 2011.
In 2013, she married former Chicago White Sox starting pitcher John Danks and their son Dalton was born in 2017.
