Arsenal have reportedly secured the signing of Anderlecht midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga for an initial € 17.5million (£ 14.9million) plus additions.

According to the journalist Fabrice Romano, the paperwork has been completed for a deal that will see Lokonga sign a contract with the Gunners that will last until the summer of 2026.

The transfer is expected to be formalized after the 21-year-old underwent a period of quarantine.

Romano added that Lokonga turned down offers from two Italian clubs to join Arsenal.

Belgium’s Under-21 international, Lokonga was called up by his country at the senior level in March when he was an unused substitute against Greece.

The midfielder is set to become Arsenal’s second signing of the summer after the Gunners struck a deal to bring in 21-year-old left-back Nuno Tavares from Benfica.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is eager to improve his squad further as he seeks to improve on his eighth place from last season.
