The popular zombie survival video game The last of us is all about the tragedy, but here is another tragedy: thats off to Netflix’s David Fincher show, Spirit hunter, is not returning for a third season. It’s a disappointment for a lot of reasons, but the main thing is that we are going no longer see Anna Torv stole all of the scenes in the series as Dr. Wendy Carr. However, something good came out of it, since Torv has now joined the upcoming HBO show based on The last of us Game.
Variety reports that she will play Tess in the series, Which one is currently touring in Canada. In the game, Tess is Joel’s (The Mandalorian‘s Pedro Pascal) partner in crime before Joel left across the country with Ellie (Game of thrones‘Bella Ramsey) to help stop a zombie apocalypse.
Fans might also know Torv from his lead role as Olivia Dunham sur Fringe, but since I’ve never seen this show (I know, I know), I just wanna wax the poetry a little more on his performance at Spirit hunter. isn series it started out of being about two men teaming up to interrogate serial killers, Torv’s authoritative and imposing presence really brought all together. She was sometimes a foil, sometimes an ally, but always a very welcome and exciting presence in the show—who, because of the time period he portrays, prioritized middle-aged white males. Without her, Spirit hunter‘s excellent two seasons wouldn’t have been as good as them.
And now she goes to The last of us, a show that HBO apparently has a ton of confidence in and is put a lot of money into it. The games are popular because they have a fun zombie killing action, but the relationship between Joel and Ellie, and the difficulties they have with people like Tess, are what make it such a compelling and adaptable story.
