Both teams need points to keep their Euro 2020 dreams alive after failing to win their first matches.
Wales hit back to draw Switzerland 1-1 in Baku on Saturday, after Turkey were beaten 3-0 by Group A favorites Italy in Rome in the tournament opener.
Today’s game may look like a home game for Turkey, despite being in Baku. Only a few hundred Welsh supporters went against the advice of the Welsh government and made the 3,000 mile journey to the shores of the Caspian Sea.
Thousands of Turkish fans are expected to make the relatively short trip to Azerbaijan, while the close ties between the two countries mean the Crescent-Stars can count on the support of the locals as well.
A loss for either team could end their hopes.

41 minutes: In the last few minutes of what has been an entertaining halftime.
Can Wales force a breakthrough?
37 minutes: And there is a chance on the break. Gareth Bale intercepts then charges forward. He has two with him against just two Turkish defenders but he tries to go it alone and Soyuncu makes an excellent sliding tackle.
34 minutes : It’s Turkey in the spotlight now – in the last ten minutes they’ve stepped it up. They should beware of the Welsh threat during the break, which was shown moments ago when James threatened to run away until he was cynically cleaned out. Somehow, he didn’t get a free kick either.
Or rather, beside the line. Ayhan is heading for the goal and Joe Morrell is on the post to run away – I don’t think it was going anyway, but he didn’t have to know it.
29 minutes : Turkey are just starting to pose a bit more of a threat and they have a corner corner here after a decent defense from Joe Rodon.
Will Wales – and Ramsey in particular – regret these missed opportunities?
24 minutes : What. A chance.
It’s the same combination as before, Bale with a ball behind for Ramsey. He’s so clear you think he needs to be offside but he’s not and that means he needs to score.
His first touch isn’t great and he just lowers his head and steps in when a more composed finish was needed. Above the bar and a glorious opening has disappeared.
22 minutes : Dan James is causing all kinds of trouble on that left flank. Wales is playing with a lot more conviction and adventure today.
17 minutes: How did it stay outside?
Bale, it’s this time that gets up at the far post and he manages to keep it alive, nodding to the other post, where Ramsey helps him get back into the mix and Moore can’t apply the final touch. There is a great appeal to handball of those in yellow, but there is nothing they can do.
13 minutes : Good game, that.
Dan James finds some space in the lower left and hangs one up for Moore at the far post. He gets up as well as expected, but fails to overcome the ball with his head and it buckles on the roof of the net.
9 minutes: Not far at the other end. Turkey shoots a quick free-kick and Under’s withdrawal finds Yilmaz, who hits him for the first time but his shot takes a gash and passes right by.
