Mr Biden’s summit with the Russian leader in Switzerland has finally highlighted for the former president that he is no longer in power, according to Maggie Haberman of Le New York Times.
“It was the event that highlighted to people around Trump and the former president himself that he is no longer president,” Ms. Haberman told CNN.
“It was the kind of event on the world stage, that attracted a lot of attention, that he really enjoyed, that he saw as one of the traps of the office, that he believed to express a sense of power and by force… that was the real moment of, ‘Oh, someone else is president and not Donald Trump.’ “
CNN host John Berman then said the single-term president and his team had seemed particularly touchy about the summit.
“His organization emailed everyone yesterday to tell everyone that he’s more popular than ever, that he’s the leader of the Republican Party,” Berman said.
“It seems really important to him. “
Mr. Trump appeared on Fox News after the summit and claimed the evening was “a good day for Russia.”
” We have not received anything. We gave Russia a really big stage and we got nothing, ”Trump told Fox News. Hannity.
“We have given up on something that is incredibly valuable. I shut down the pipeline, Nord Stream, and this pipeline was shut down. It was returned and nothing was obtained for it.
