Trudeau and Canadian delegation check in at quarantine hotel after overseas trip – –

OTTAWA – Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has checked in on the final leg of his trip abroad.

Trudeau and the rest of the Canadian delegation that traveled to the UK and Belgium checked into a three-star hotel near the Ottawa airport on Tuesday evening to begin a 14-day quarantine.

Canada introduced a rule earlier in the year that those entering the country by air without exemption must stay in a government-approved hotel for up to three nights before returning home to complete the remainder of their trip. quarantine.

Trudeau’s office said the Prime Minister, along with his official delegation, would all follow the same COVID-19 travel rules that are asked of Canadians.

Opposition Conservatives have denounced the fact that the Prime Minister does not stay in one of the same government-authorized hotels that citizens must choose.

The place where he and the rest of the delegation were staying was quiet Tuesday night.

Journalists and government staff were given rooms on the same floor and greeted with packed lunches.

Members of the delegation are not expected to leave the hotel room until negative results are obtained from a COVID-19 test which was administered upon their arrival.

Trudeau and those on the trip were tested nearly ten times for COVID-19 several days before the flight left Ottawa for Europe last week.

An expert advisory group recently told the Liberal government it should phase out the policy of forcing people to stay in quarantine hotels because it does not respect science and contains too many loopholes to be consistently followed.
