Tour de France – Pascal Ackermann says Bora-Hansgrohe boss Ralph Denk has broken his word on this summer’s selection – –

Pascal Ackermann says team Bora-Hansgrohe boss Ralph Denk broke his word after missing the team’s Tour de France squad.
The German was to line up alongside Peter Sagan as one of the Tour’s two sprinters.

However, with Ackermann not having won a race this season and Wilco Kelderman vying for the overall standings, he was not selected to race.

Emanuel Buchman is due to lend his support and potentially cover Kelderman in the Tour which kicks off live on Eurosport from June 26.

Ackermann is not happy with the decision and feels he was the victim of a broken promise.

“I am more than disappointed, I must say. Ralph has always been a man who kept his word. But this time he certainly didn’t, ”Ackerman told German site Radsport News.

“It was said that I would do the Tour for three years, and it has always been true that I shouldn’t worry about it.

Without this promise, I would not have signed the contract at the time. You have to see that too. This is why I am extremely disappointed.

“Of course there hasn’t been a win yet, but that’s no reason why I’m not allowed to participate if the form is good. And it was fair.

“If I knew that I am not in good shape, I would understand. But everyone knows, and you can see from the data, that the reason (for not selecting) is not my shape.

“I don’t understand the reason. And the team knows it too. This is why I am so disappointed. “
