Matt Hancock accused of having “an affair with a close collaborator” Gina Coladangelo
Health Secretary Matt Hancock has been accused of having an affair with a close friend and lobbyist who is a taxpayer-funded government adviser, according to a report.
The sun claimed Mr Hancock was filmed kissing Gina Coladangelo, the newspaper publishing security camera footage allegedly taken on May 6.
It was revealed in November that Ms Coladangelo had been given a post of non-executive director at the Department of Health and Social Affairs (DHSC), although there is no public record of the appointment.
DHSC was not immediately available to comment on the report on Friday morning.
It comes after a difficult few weeks for the Health Secretary following revelations Boris Johnson called him ‘desperate’ during the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic last year.
Labor calls for investigation into alleged Hancock office affair
Labor said the government must respond if Matt Hancock broke rules or if there had been “conflicts of interest” in appointing his closest adviser following allegations of an affair between the two men.
“Ministers, like everyone else, have a right to privacy. However, when taxpayers’ money is involved or jobs are offered to close friends who have a personal relationship with a minister, this needs to be considered, ”a party spokesperson said.

Who is Gina Coladangelo? Taxpayer-funded adviser Hancock is accused of having an affair with
Beyond questions around the health secretary who potentially broke Covid rules, the alleged case also raises concerns about the nature of his working relationship with Gina Coladangelo – the advisor he is accused of having kissed.
Ms Coladangelo was given a post of non-executive director at the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs last year, which led to accusations of “chumocracy” as the two men are said to be close friends at the university.

Minister refuses to comment on “all personal” matter of alleged affair
Transportation Secretary Grant Shapps said he would not comment on Matt Hancock’s alleged affair with one of his assistants, as he described the matter as an “entirely personal” matter.
Mr Shapps told Sky News that former lobbyist Gina Coladangelo – whom the health secretary met at university – would have had to go through an ‘incredibly rigorous’ process to get her job at the Department of Health and Business social.
Asked about the rules around appointing friends to government posts, he added: “First of all, I think the real issue is entirely personal to Matt Hancock.
“In terms of the rules, anyone appointed has to go through an incredibly rigorous process in government, so whatever the rules, the rules will have to be followed.
“There are no shortcuts to this, as anyone who has had anything to do with the public service appointment system knows. There are very strict rules in place.
