France stunned by Switzerland
Defending world champions France were excluded from the European Championship by Switzerland, with Kylian Mbappe missing the decisive kick in a thrilling penalty shootout.
Swiss goalkeeper Yann Sommer made the decisive save on the 10th penalty after the previous nine had all been successful.
Switzerland fought back after trailing 3-1 in the second half, with Haris Seferovic and substitute Mario Gavranovic scoring late goals to force the game into overtime.
Spain pushes back Croatia
Spain recovered from a truly bizarre self-directed goal to reach the Euro 2020 quarter-finals with a spectacular 5-3 overtime win over Croatia.
Croatia received an unexpected lead when Spain goalkeeper Unai Simon allowed a pass back from Pedri to dribble into the net.
Spain responded through Pablo Sarabia, Cesar Azpilicueta and Ferran Torres, but Croatia fought back with two goals in the final five minutes from substitutes Mislav Orsic and Mario Pasalic.
But Spain kept their cool and sealed their place in the next round with overtime goals of
Alvaro Morata and Mikel Oyarzabal.
Spain will now face Switzerland in St. Petersburg on July 2.
