Philippine President Duterte: “You choose, vaccine against the Covid or I put you in jail”

A new wave of Covid-19 cases threatens to disrupt another summer in the UK as the government extends restrictions for England until July amid concerns over the rate of spread of the Delta variant.

The Guardian’s health editor, Sarah Boseley, tell Anushka Asthana that this time around we are in a very different position, with most adults now having two vaccines. However, there is still a prospect of a sharp increase in Covid cases and with it more hospital admissions and deaths. Boris Johnson said cases of the Delta variant were increasing by about 30% per week.

T-shirt Gill and Debs Shilling organized the Black deer festival, a celebration of American and country music. After the government’s delay in lifting the restrictions, the event had to be canceled for the second year in a row. The couple say that while they understand the seriousness of the new wave, they and those who bought tickets are devastated.
