None of the Royals will deliver a speech, but their presence suggests a display of soft diplomacy.
Then it’s time for another reception, this one hosted by the Prince of Wales for G7 leaders and CEOs of some of the world’s biggest companies. Fashion designer Stella McCartney will add glamor.
The prince hailed the summit on Thursday as a ‘game-changing opportunity’ and used it to highlight the ‘existential crisis’ of climate change, in a meeting with business leaders at St James’s Palace ahead of the summit .
On Sunday, Mr Biden will be greeted in Windsor by the Queen with a guard of honor, followed by tea with the monarch at the castle.
Asked about the meeting with the Royals, Ms Biden said: “Joe and I are both looking forward to meeting the Queen. It is an exciting part of the visit for us.
“We’ve been looking forward to this for weeks and now it’s finally here. It’s a great start. “
Ms Biden was clearly enticed by her meeting with Ms Johnson. On Twitter to the First Lady’s official account, she posted: “It was wonderful spending time with Carrie Johnson and her son, Wilfred, today. The special relationship continues. ”
