Funimation has announced that the entire cult anime “Robotech” will begin airing on the service this fall, and a Blu-ray box set containing all 85 episodes of the series will be released on September 28.
The space opera anime epic, which is about humans defending their home worlds from alien domination, premiered in 1985 and consists of three “sagas.”
Each episode will be dubbed into English and will feature brand new remastered versions of each episode in its original format. The Blu-ray version also offers Dolby TrueHD sound.
Funimation also adds the films “Robotech II: The Sentinels” and “Robotech the Shadow Chronicles” in standard definition. The series will be available through Funimation’s SVOD service in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Peru and Chile.
For those who don’t want the overly elaborate one-off set, a standard Tri-Sagas Blu-ray release will also take place this fall with “The Macross Saga” on September 28, “The Masters” on November 16 and “La new generation ‘on December 14.
All Blu-ray releases will be in North America only.
