Police investigate death of seriously injured man and woman in Scarborough shooting – –

A man has died and a woman is seriously injured after being shot in a vehicle in Scarborough overnight, Toronto police said.

At approximately 1:15 a.m., police responded to reports of a shooting at a townhouse complex near Lawrence Avenue East and Scarborough Golf Club Road.

When officers arrived at the scene, they located a vehicle with two people inside.

The two occupants were shot and wounded, Insp. Ishmail Musah told reporters at the scene.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and the woman, in her 20s, was taken to a trauma center with serious but not life-threatening injuries, paramedics said.

“There seems to be cartridge cases there, I don’t know the exact number, but yes, this scene is traumatic in the sense that there was a lot of gunfire…” Musah said.

Police later confirmed that 16 shell casings were found at the scene.

No details of the suspects have been released.

The homicide unit has been notified and is attending the scene.

Diane lives in the townhouse complex and heard gunshots outside her unit. She told CP24 that she was shocked that a shooting had occurred in her neighborhood.

Right now I’m shaking but I still have to go to work, I have to do my job. Just knowing that my family is safe is OK. [It’s] too close to home, ”she said in tears.

The involved vehicle was towed away from the scene.

Anyone with information or video from the dash cam in the area is urged to contact the police.

“This incident is not normal in this area, so I’m sure it has gathered a lot of people looking out their windows and we hope these people will contact the 43rd Division,” Musah said.
