Esoteric, the first full League of Legends animated series, has a trailer. Riot and Netflix released the series’ first preview on Friday as part of Netflix’s Geeked Week event.
The series seems to take place primarily in the marvelous technological paradise of Piltover and its sister city Zaun, a place of uncontrolled technological terror. The two towns are constantly at odds, with members of Zaun pouring into the streets of Piltover to cause various forms of chaos and mayhem.
This latest clip focuses on Jinx, a chaos-loving criminal from Zaun. But before she was the armed figure League fans now know that she was the sister of one of Piltover’s best cops, Vi. The clip gives us brief flashbacks to Jinx’s past with his sister and allows him to dispel some of the resentment that has built up between the two. It looks like this relationship will play a central role in Arcane, which will hopefully give us more stories about both characters.
Esoteric is produced in-house by Riot Games in conjunction with Fortiche Productions, who have often worked with Riot on animated shorts for League of Legends in the past, including the K / DA animated clip for Pop / Stars.
Esoteric is slated to hit Netflix in fall 2021.
