Thomas Markle begged his daughter to forgive him while threatening to broadcast “dirty laundry” about his family.

In a trailer for an upcoming TV interview, Meghan Markle’s father begs the Sussexes to allow him to see his granddaughter Lilibet, who was born a week ago.

He says he received no phone calls about the birth and only heard about it on the radio.

Thomas, 76, said Meghan had not spoken to him for the two days leading up to her marriage to Prince Harry and begged her to make contact.

Meghan cut her dad after it emerged he had arranged shots with a paparazzi photographer ahead of his wedding in 2018.

In a short trailer for an interview with 60 Minutes Australia, due to air on Sunday, Thomas begs his daughter to forgive him for his “only stupid mistake”.

The retired Hollywood lighting engineer said, “I will be very disappointed that I cannot hold my granddaughter. “

But in a move that could drive an even bigger wedge between him and Meghan, Thomas added: “Want dirty laundry? This is my first time discussing these things.

After hearing the news of Harry and Meghan’s second child, Thomas said: “I am very happy with the news of the safe and healthy delivery of my new granddaughter, and I wish her and her mother, all my love and best wishes. “

He still hasn’t met Sussex’s first child Archie, two, and royal experts say he’s unlikely to meet his grandchildren anytime soon.

Earlier this year he said he had apologized “100 times” for his mistakes and urged the couple to see him with their son, now they only live “70 miles” from him.

He said: ‘In the end she didn’t lose me, she made a statement saying she lost me, she didn’t lose me, I would have always been there for her, I am here for her now if she wants me.

‘I would like to repeat. I’m sorry for what I did. It was two years ago. But I tried to catch up. I’m only 70 miles away.

“I never stopped loving him. I don’t agree with everything my kids do. But I will always love them. And I certainly love Meghan.
