Matthäus compares German Kai Havertz to France legend Zinedine Zidane – .

In an interview with the kicker (as captured by Goal), Bayern Munich and Germany legend Lothar Matthäus praised Chelsea ace Kai Havertz, comparing him to Real Madrid icon and from France Zinedine Zidane.

Havertz, who has now become the youngest goalscorer in European Championship history, was one of his team’s best players against Portugal 4-2. His playing style and technique reminded Matthäus of one of football’s all-time greats.

“I compare him to Zinedine Zidane in terms of skills, technique and overview, and anticipation of a situation”, explains The tank. “Zidane didn’t look quick, but that’s when he hit the ball. Havertz can do it too.

German coach Joachim Löw seems convinced of Havertz’s qualities. Against the reigning champions of Portugal, the attacking midfielder effectively justified his selection against Timo Werner and Leroy Sané by contributing with a first-rate performance. However, Welding thinks there are some areas that Havertz could look to improve.

“He could score more goals and improve in short movements with special training,” Matthäus noted. “He’s got a good eye, good ball control, good positional play, good technique. “

At just 22 years old, Havertz appears to have already sealed a starting eleven place for his club and country, and Matthäus can very well imagine him becoming the face of Germany in the years to come.

“Havertz will be one of the running points of the national team for the next six or eight years when [Toni] Kroos, [Thomas] Muller and [İlkay] Gündoğan ended his career there, ”said Matthäus.

He also gave advice to the next National Coach Hansi Flick. “If I only look at talent, the coach should say Havertz is still playing, even when he’s not at his best. “

Flick couldn’t coach the Bayern attacking midfielder, but one can only imagine the kind of partnership Müller and Havertz will form when the six-time manager takes over in Germany.

Safe to say, planet earth will not be ready at the 2022 World Cup.
