Lancashire’s 603 new Covid cases with spikes in three areas – –

Lancashire has recorded 603 more cases of coronavirus in the last 24-hour period.
These include spikes in three areas, according to the latest data released this afternoon by Public Health England.

Pendle saw his daily count double from 25 yesterday to 50 today while Rossendale’s dropped from 16 to 40. Wyre recorded 29 positive virus tests, up from 16 yesterday.

Blackburn with Darwen saw an increase of less than 100 cases for the second day in a row, as new numbers suggest the rounding has now reached the peak of the Delta variant wave.

At least 50 new cases have been confirmed in five districts of Lancashire, up from two yesterday.

Today’s total of 603 is also up from the 497 announced yesterday and brings it closer to the recent daily totals of 634 Monday, 637 Sunday, 585 Saturday and 639 Friday.

The government also said as of 9 a.m. Wednesday there had been 9,055 more laboratory-confirmed cases in the UK.

The latest UK figures show the number of daily reported cases topped 9,000 for the first time since February 25. As of this date, there were 9,985 reported cases.

As of Wednesday, nine more people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19, bringing the UK total to 127,926.

Separate figures released by the Office for National Statistics show that there have been 153,000 registered deaths in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

Government data up to June 15 shows that of the 72,461,462 injections given in the UK so far, 42,021,089 were first doses – an increase of 190,033 the day before.

Some 30,440,373 were second doses, an increase of 230,666.
