div>FORMER Paris Saint-Germain winger Jerome Rothen believes Kylian Mbappe’s “oversized ego” is problematic for France.
The 43-year-old, who won 13 caps for the Blues, said Didier Deschamps was struggling to control the attitude of the Parisian striker.
Mbappe was involved in a public feud with Olivier Giroud ahead of Euro 2020 where the Chelsea ace targeted the 22-year-old.
The former Arsenal center-forward accused Mbappe of failing to pass him in the friendly 3-0 victory over Bulgaria.
His statement left Mbappe feeling “frustrated” and “angry” as he insisted Giroud’s comments “affected him” ahead of the tournament.
Mbappe has started France’s three group matches for Euro 2020, but failed to score a goal or help with his questioned performances.
And former Rangers player Rothen – who is part of the France squad for Euro 2004 – hit Mbappe as he claimed no one could be happy with his performance so far.
He told RMC Sport: “Let him be the leader in the field, no problem… he [his ego] also extends off the field, it bothers me.
“I think Didier Deschamps can’t do it anymore and it’s problematic. It’s even surprising that he lets Kylian Mbappe do so many things.
“It shows in his performance on the pitch. Today, we can not say that Kylian Mbappe has achieved a Euros.

“Is he right as he was at PSG throughout the end of the season? I would say no.
“We expect a lot better from Kylian Mbappe. Everyone thinks Mbappe is one of the best players in Europe.
“But if you immediately put it in the top category, you can’t be happy. “
Mbappe is entering the final year of his contract at Parc des Princes and has been linked with a shock start this summer.
It has been reported that Real Madrid could take a hit for the player after Euro 2020.
