Jose Mourinho appears to have hit a number of his former clubs after claiming he was ‘misled’ and made mistakes on some projects in the past.
Roma boss Mourinho took up his new role in Italy just days after being sacked by Tottenham, and he has now taken the time to reflect on his career and a number of jobs that have ended in difficult conditions.
After sealing a Serie A return to the Stadio Olimpico, Mourinho also insisted that his ‘passion’ and motivation for his profession was back – and he called the challenge a ‘Mission: Impossible’ due to the hope he wins.

In a lengthy interview with GQ Portugal, Mourinho, 58, was asked if running a club impacts his choices on his next destination.
“I sometimes make mistakes, I did not always choose the right project, or I may have been misled on the progress of certain projects”, admitted the “Special One”.
“I made mistakes or was dishonestly tricked into accepting what I shouldn’t have, but in the end it’s all the same.
Mourinho claimed several unfortunate projects saw him treated ‘dishonestly’
“These are not my words, they were spoken by someone who was much more important than me: the one with goals and motivation will never get old.
“I still can’t believe that I have 30 years of experience in professional football, or that I am 58, because I always renew my motivation. “
His last two forays into management have come with Manchester United and Spurs, and both ended with the ax being cut down on him.
Mourinho led United to three trophies in total – the Community Shield, the EFL Cup and the Europa League – before being removed from office after his third season in charge turned out in spectacular fashion.

Mourinho’s third season fell apart at Old Trafford, but he insisted the move was a ‘transition’
And, despite a promising start to his tenure, the end result was the same in north London, with Tottenham adrift from Champions League places and humiliatingly knocked out from Europe.
The legendary coach stressed that both projects came from clubs struggling to regain their glory days, or with a poor record in competition, and admitted his new role comes with similar pressures.
“Lately, I have had very different projects than before. I went to Manchester United in a sentence of transition, not to say decay, ”added Mourinho.
After signing a three-year contract with Roma, Mourinho revealed his passion has returned
“I went to Tottenham which has no history of success. Now I am going to Rome with new owners, but I immediately felt this empathy with the owners, the manager and they immediately rekindled the fire and the passion that I have for my work.
“So I am leaving for another mission: impossible. I say impossible because people tend to look at me and in their eyes there is only one way to measure success, and that is, I have to win.
Mourinho put his pen to a three-year contract to take the reins at Rome, a shocking move that came shortly after leaving Spurs. And now he has revealed how talks have started with his new club.

“They really wanted me,” he says. “It was almost instantly, with me leaving Tottenham in the morning and Roma calling me in the afternoon.
“They wanted me a lot and were objective. ”
He added: “They were very honest and direct, and I immediately felt this passion I have for my job. So I didn’t have to think about it too much, because they really touched me with their approach. I really like it. ‘
