A former White House national security adviser who testified at former President Donald Trump’s first impeachment trial is helping President Joe Biden prepare for his first meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Axios reported.
Fiona Hill is among the Russian experts who will brief Biden ahead of the meeting, Axios reported.
Hill was the top Russian expert in the White House from 2017 to 2019 under the Trump administration.
She testified during Trump’s first impeachment, where lawmakers were investigating his relationship with Ukraine.
Hill was also in attendance at Trump’s June 2018 meeting with Putin in Helsinki, during which Trump appeared to side with Putin on the U.S. intelligence community over Russian election interference. Hill told BBC News earlier this year that she was considering “faking some sort of medical emergency” to disrupt a press conference.
