Electric scooter driver ‘seriously’ injured in Wolverhampton crash, passenger seriously injured – –

West Midlands Police said he suffered “serious head injuries”, while a 19-year-old woman, who was believed to have been the electric scooter passenger, was also seriously injured. The woman driving the VW Golf was not injured.

Police, paramedics and air ambulance teams descended on the scene near New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton shortly after the collision.

Eyewitness Marcus Burrows said he saw two air ambulances, while photos show road vehicles of air ambulances marching to the scene alongside the West Midlands Ambulance Service and police.

Prestwood Road was closed for most of the afternoon on Saturday, with the West Midlands Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit tweeting shortly after 9:30 p.m. to say the road had been reopened.

Officers now conduct CCTV and door-to-door investigations, and call anyone who saw what happened, or has a dash cam or other images, to get in touch via chat live or 101.
