CR Willcocks was forcibly approached in April, with a request to hire eight electric side-by-side utility vehicles to support police in their maneuvers around Carbis Bay beach.
As the primary dealer of Polaris, the world leader in side-by-side all-terrain vehicles, CR Willcocks has assembled a fleet of Polaris RANGER electric vehicles, at a time when Covid-19 blockages have strained production of machinery, especially in the agricultural industry.
Stephen Retallick, Senior Dealer at CR Willcocks, based in Newton Abbot, said: “Polaris has been excellent in helping us supply this fleet of electric UTVs to help Devon and Cornwall Police keep the G7 leaders safe. . ”
“As more farmers and landowners go green, our participation in the G7 Summit will further raise awareness of the availability of electric all-terrain vehicles. This has already sparked the interest of a number of our existing customers as they become more environmentally conscious.
Founded in 1964, CR Willcocks is an agricultural and garden machinery dealer located in South Devon. The company is not only one of the oldest Ford New Holland tractor dealers in the Westcountry, but also has a long heritage in the field of electric vehicles, supplying and maintaining many of the region’s leading golf courses with electric golf carts since the early 1990s.
The rental vehicle fleet delivered to Devon and Cornwall Police at the G7 Summit site includes seven Polaris RANGER EV (two-seater side-to-side electric all-terrain vehicle) and one Polaris RANGER Diesel. A Polaris RANGER EV is powered by simply plugging it into AC power for overnight charging.
