The 18-year-old victim was playing basketball with a group of people at Richmond High School on August 21, 2020 when the alleged attack occurred.
Two witnesses described the seriousness of the teenager’s injuries to police, who then located the victim in hospital. The teenager suffered cuts to his face, one of which slit his upper lip.

“Speaking to the victim’s father, it is evident that this incident had a profound impact on their family,” said Cpl. Adriana O’Malley said.
“It’s very difficult for a parent to find their child like this,” said Harris First, the teenager’s father, last year.
“When your child has autism on top of that and doesn’t understand a lot of the things that are going on… I can’t understand what could upset someone so much. “

Dominic Rallon Jao, 21, has been charged with assault causing bodily harm. Jao lives in Ontario.
