An unidentified winner has taken the first seat on Jeff Bezos’ spacecraft for $ 28 million.

By adding the 6% Buyers Commission added to the highest price offer, the winner will pay $ 2.7 million per minute for the 11-minute flight scheduled for July 20, the 52nd anniversary of the moon landing. .

The winner will join Amazon founder and his brother, Mark, in the six-seater’s first human flight.

After a month of online auctions, the auction kicked off on Saturday, starting at $ 4.8 million and edged up for the first two minutes before reaching $ 10 million. Then he doubled up to $ 20 million in the third minute.

Nearly 7,600 people from 159 countries have registered to participate in the auction for a seat aboard the spacecraft, named “New Shepard”.

The New Shephard has performed over a dozen successful unmanned flights. Boasting massive windows, the craft is designed to provide space tourists with unforgettable views of the curvature of the Earth, as well as several minutes in zero gravity.

The amount of the winning bid will be donated to Club for the Future, the foundation created by Bezos’ rocket company, Blue Origin. Its mission is to inspire future generations to pursue careers in STEM and to help invent the future of living in space.
