Walmart is replacing cashiers at its Terrace store in northwestern British Columbia with self-checkout this summer, making it a test project with a number of other outlets across Canada.
In a statement sent by email to The Standard Terrace, Walmart Canada said its Terrace store was chosen as a test location because a large number of customers were using cash machines.
“Our business is transforming and we are constantly striving to make our stores simpler and faster for our customers. That is why we are constantly innovating and trying new initiatives so that we can be the best retailer, ”said spokesperson Felicia Fefer.
“Our customers have embraced automatic checkouts as they have rolled out across the country over the past few years,” she added.
