Antonio Rudiger urges Germany to be ‘disgusting’ against France attackers – –

Antonio Rudiger has warned that Germany will not try to play “beautiful football” in their Euro 2020 opener with France and called on them to be “disgusting” against Kylian Mbappe and co.

Germany face a tough group with their other two opponents Portugal and Hungary alongside the World Cup winners, who are considered by many to be the favorites.

France have a number of attacking talents, including Kylian Mbappe, Karim Benzema, Antoine Griezmann and Rudiger’s Chelsea teammate Olivier Giroud.

The German defender knows his team are ready for a fight on Tuesday and insisted they will have to be physical in their approach.

“Of course they have good forwards, we have to be ready to win the challenges head to head,” Rudiger said ahead of the game.

“Just be disgusting, don’t always be nice, nice, nice, nice or funny, nice, nice”.

“You have to establish your mark against these players.

Mbappe was asked about Rudiger’s comments at his next press conference and insisted his team would focus on their own style of football.

“Every man fights with the weapons at his disposal.

“Our weapons are to play together, to play our game. If they are their weapons, then they will play with theirs, we will play with ours.

“And we remain focused on our preparation, analyzing their strengths and weaknesses well, and trying to start this tournament well. “

There remains a feud between Mbappe and Giroud that threatens to disrupt France’s preparations for the opener.

The Paris Saint-Germain forward said he was “affected” by Giroud’s comments in the aftermath of their 3-0 friendly win over Bulgaria last week.

Mbappe would have been furious after the Chelsea striker came out after the game and claimed that the leading French players could have teamed up better, when he obviously looked bored with Mbappe on the pitch.
