3-year-old boy survived drifting in a canoe for a day after his parents drowned in a storm – World News – .

A three-year-old boy survived drifting alone on a dinghy in the water for a day after his parents fell out and drowned in a storm.
The toddler was found unconscious in the motorboat near Lake Khanka in Russia’s far eastern region of Primorsky Krai, which borders North Korea.

The boy, identified only by his first name Fedya, regained consciousness in the hospital and reportedly told his grandmother that his parents drowned in front of him.

He said the last words his mother said to him was the right thing to do until rescuers arrived.

A search was launched to locate her father Andrey Savochkin, 41, and her mother Christina Podareva, 31, 31, and their bodies were found later on Wednesday.

While it is still not known what happened to the family on the lake and how Fedya miraculously survived, it is believed that his mother’s last words kept him safe until he was spotted.

It is also believed that one of the boy’s parents managed to get him to turn off the boat’s engine after being thrown into the water during the storm and unable to get back on board.

Fedya’s parents have been described as experienced fishermen who instilled a love for water activities in their son from birth.

A preliminary investigation found that the parents likely fell from the ship and drowned in front of their son, adding that it was a miracle he survived.

One theory is that the boat struck something while traveling at high speed and the parents were thrown overboard.

They were then unable to get back on board due to the severe storm they may have been trying to escape.

Family friend Dmitry Ivanov said: “It seems he saw his mother waving her arms while she was drowning, asking her to press a button. From what I understand, she was asking him to turn off the engine. “

The investigation is continuing.
