A boy from Englewood, near Dayton, won the four-year college scholarship.
“We are thrilled that this inspired so many people in Ohio to get vaccinated, and we are thrilled to announce the winners of the first set of drawings,” Governor Mike DeWine said.
The state announced the winner Wednesday night on News 5. Watch the video above for the names of the winners.
Over two million Ohioans entered the draw for a million dollar prize, and 104,386 Ohioans ages 12 to 17 entered the draw for a college scholarship.
Registration for the next Ohio Vax-a-Million draw ends May 30 at 11:59 p.m. ET.
The Vax-a-Million program, which is run by the Ohio Lottery and the Ohio Department of Health, awards a vaccinated Ohio adult $ 1 million every Wednesday for the next five weeks. The names of the winners will be announced live on an Ohio Lottery special on News 5 Cleveland at 7:29 p.m. each Wednesday.
The winner of a full scholarship to an Ohio university will also be every Wednesday night; this winner is drawn from a pool of vaccinated Ohioans ages 12 to 17.
