Washington Post fact-checker Glenn Kessler called on President Biden for his attempt to spin April’s disappointing jobs report.
The April jobs report released on Friday shocked the country, which saw just 266,000 jobs created and an increase in unemployment after economists expected around 1 million jobs to be created in as part of the country’s economic recovery after the coronavirus pandemic.
While Biden insisted with reporters to put the disappointing data into “perspective,” he then took to Twitter to brag about his administration’s job record since his first months in office.

“Since our administration began, the economy has created over 1.5 million jobs,” Biden tweeted with a graph showing that only “542,000” jobs were created in the first three months of the year. Trump administration. “We still have work to do, but America is moving in the right direction. “
Kessler reversed the tweet, citing the record of his former boss, President Obama.
“Now do Obama’s first three months. -2.2 million jobs! Kessler exclaimed.
The auditor added: “It is utterly ridiculous to claim that job growth in the first few months of a presidency has a lot to do with administrative policies. “
Kessler recently concluded that the Post counted 78 misleading claims in the first 100 days of his tenure, which included four “Four Pinocchios” ratings.
However, he announced that he was throwing in the towel on managing a database throughout the Biden presidency, as he did for the Trump presidency.

“This is the Biden database – which we don’t plan to expand beyond 100 days. I’ve learned my lesson, ”Kessler tweeted. “’I’ve learned my lesson’ means who knows what the next four years will bring. We have rigorously checked Biden’s facts and will continue to do so. Trump at 500 claims / 100 days was manageable; more than 8,000 were not. ”
