Wanting to make France a sporting nation before Paris 2024: PM Macron – fr

While the city of Paris will host the next edition of the Olympic Games in 2024, the French Prime Minister, Emmanuel Macron, already seems to be considering a successful passage for the country at home.

Announcing the reopening of gymnasiums and other indoor sports facilities in the country in the wake of covid-19, Macron said the government’s goal for Paris 2024 was to “bring back many medals” and “make France a sport nation ”.
Macron was accompanied by Sports Minister Roxana Maracineanu, Education Minister Jean-Michael Blanquer, former basketball player Tony Parker and former footballer Laure Boulleau.

During his short trip, Macron also announced ‘Pass Sport’ – a new aid for aspiring athletes in the country. Under this, each child would receive 50 euros to enroll in a sports club. This aid will be available from the start of the school year this year for around 5.4 million children and may be renewed in 2022.
Sports Minister Roxana Maracineanu also confirmed that Prime Minister Emmanuel Macron will travel to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and be in the city for the opening ceremony.

France should take up the torch of Paris 2024 after the Tokyo Games from Japan.
