TUI canceled more flights and vacations to a number of destinations this summer.
The travel group has suspended travel to Orange countries and the Red List until next month.

This is despite the fact that Transport Secretary Grant Shapps has confirmed that the Canary Islands will be considered separately when the travel rules are updated.

The approach has raised hopes that popular vacation hotspots such as the Canaries and Balearic Islands could be moved to the green list of travel destinations.

But Mr Shapps told BBC Radio 4’s Today program that no decision has yet been made.

“There is a difference between the ‘principle’, the way we want to do this job, and the actual data and what the Joint BiosecurityCentre (JBC) is going to offer us. This information I haven’t seen yet. “

The JBC looked at issues such as coronavirus level, vaccination data, and the ability to sequence the genome to discover variants.

Mr Shapps said: “Sometimes this installation can be a problem in smaller places. “

TUI recently abandoned travel to Turkey and several other destinations due to restrictions on travel to resorts, HertsLive reports.

They said they had to “unfortunately cancel all vacations to the following red and orange destinations” until June 13 inclusive.

Aruba, Croatia, Cyprus, Greece – Crete (Chania), Halkidiki, Kefalonia, Preveza, Samos, Santorini, Skiathos, Thassos, Zante – Italy, Jamaica, Spain – Mainland Spain, Formentera, Mallorca, Ibiza, Menorca and La Palma.

All TUI Lakes and Mountains stays are canceled until June 13 inclusive, while trips to Bulgaria, Cape Verde, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Egypt, Mexico, Morocco, Tunisia and Turkey are suspended until June 27.

The company said, “All customers affected by these cancellations will be contacted directly and may request a full cash refund or upgrade to a later date or alternative vacation and receive a booking incentive.

“If we need to cancel future vacations due to updated government guidelines, we will contact you directly and endeavor to give guests at least seven days notice. “

Despite the cancellations, TUI has added five new weekly services to the Green List of Algarve Non-Quarantined Destinations.

The new services are: Birmingham to Faro: weekly (Sunday) from May 30 to October 31; Manchester to Faro: weekly (Thursday) from June 3 to October 28; Newcastle to Faro: weekly (Thursday) from May 27 to October 28; Newcastle to Faro: weekly (Sunday) from May 30 to October 30; Gatwick to Faro: weekly (Thursday) from June 3 to 17.

These flights are in addition to the 14 weekly flights already on sale from UK airports throughout the summer. TUI offers flights to Faro from East Midlands, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Midlands, Gatwick, Newcastle, Manchester and Stansted.
