TI under investigation by LAPD for rape and drugs of women – Deadline – fr

(Updated with statement from TI counsel) Already facing public allegations from nearly a dozen women that they sexually assaulted and drugged them, TI is now in the limelight of the Los Angeles Police Department.
“There is an active investigation into Clifford Harris,” LAPD agent William Cooper told Deadline on Monday, referring to TI’s real name. The 2005 incident saw the anonymous woman invited back to the couple’s hotel room after meeting them at a club. Having been given a drink of TI once in the bedroom, the woman told LAPD officials that she soon found herself naked, in a shower, and on a bed with the Harrises, as she felt more secure. more ill.

The woman shares an attorney in Tyrone A. Blackburn with Rachelle Jenks. The latter filed a report with the Las Vegas police in April which details a similar sequence of drinks and rapes.

On March 1, Blackburn held a press conference claiming he represented “11 people, 10 women and one man” who were “victims” of the Harrises over a 15-year period. At the time, the Brooklyn-based lawyer claimed he and his firm had been contacted by “more than 30 women” who allege that the Harrises, “aided by several people in their jobs, kidnapped, drugged, raped them. and terrified. with threats of death or bodily harm. “

The previous month, Blackburn sent a letter to California Attorney General Xavier Bacerra, saying that “of the eleven people detained by my office, one of them was residing in the state of California at the time of her drugs. of her rape. ” Asking Bacerra that “investigators and prosecutors in your office” get involved, the correspondence added that “these women do not know each other, and without any indication from me, they are recounting eerily similar events of sexual abuse, d forced ingestion of illegal drugs. , kidnappings, terrorist threats and false imprisonment. “

Baccera now heads the Department of Health and Human Services in DC for Joe Biden, and Rob Bonta is the Golden State’s senior law enforcement official. Blackburn’s letter, along with the attorney’s efforts to individually contact various local law enforcement groups, appear to have been at least partially responsible for the LAPD’s consideration of the matter.

If the cops find enough information to justify charges in their opinion, the case will be forwarded to the DA George Gascón office in Los Angeles County. It will then be up to the prosecutor and the sex crimes unit in the office to decide whether they want to take further action.

Contacted by Deadline, Blackburn also did not respond to the request for comment on LAPD news. However, T, I’s attorney representing the APA, Steve Sadow, ultimately released a statement.

“The Harrises have not spoken or been contacted by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), the Las Vegas Police Department (LVPD) or, in fact, any law enforcement personnel of any other jurisdiction. of the country, ”said the Atlanta-based lawyer, continuing to question the credibility of women in the California and Nevada cases.

Having appeared in both The ant Man films for Marvel / Disney, TI was a judge on Netflix Rhythm + Flow and bet The Grand Hustle among other projects. Production of the fourth season of the MTV reality series TI & Tiny: Friends & Family Hustle in Atlanta was closed in February when the first allegations were made public.
