Three takeaways in Greater Manchester have been announced as finalists for the British Takeaway Awards, our dominant region in the North West category.
Thousands of takeaways across the country have been reduced to just five independent companies in each of 12 regional categories.

In the North West category, three Stockport food businesses were named fan favorites following a public vote, along with take-out food in Liverpool and Warrington.

The prizes themselves will take place in September, with a prize of £ 1,000 for each regional winner and £ 5,000 for the company to be crowned best take-out in Britain.

Emmerdale star Adam Thomas reached the final with his restaurant Gatley The Spinn, famous for its wraps and burgers.

He made headlines late last year when he taunted the government with a three-tiered ‘Boris Burger’ and paid to have it advertised on huge billboards.

LAPD Food, a delivery-only restaurant that sells burgers, pizza, and fried chicken, is also part of the Northwestern finale.

It also made headlines when it was launched due to the use of an American-style police vehicle to deliver its food.

The Bun and Bones Club in Hazel Grove rounds out the Stockport takeout trio in the final.

Specializing in burgers and wings, the dishes on its menu include Hans Seoul-o (fried chicken breast in buttermilk, spicy Korean sauce, Asian mayo and homemade kimchi) and “Mancake” (beef patties, American cheese, smoked bacon and maple syrup on two fluffy American pancakes).

Just Wings in Liverpool and The Burger Joint in Warrington will also seek the overall regional title later this year.

Andrew Kenny, Managing Director of Just Eat, commented: “We are delighted to be back with the British Takeaway Awards for the sixth year in a row.

“Every year we are amazed at the level of appetizers and this year is no different, with a huge range of restaurants for the awards, from family-run takeouts to small chains.

“Celebrating the fantastic local takeouts across the UK is especially important this year after many have turned to their local restaurants for a lift throughout the lockdowns.

“The UK voted in force to give back to its local heroes to go and we look forward to honoring the winners at the awards ceremony in September. “
