Staff of France vaccinated for Euro 2020, no plan for the players: Deschamps

PARIS: All members of the staff of the French national team were vaccinated against COVID-19 before Euro 2020, although the federation did not plan to protect the players, coach Didier Deschamps said on Wednesday .
“The whole staff have been vaccinated but nothing has been organized for the players,” Deschamps said at a press conference as the team met for the first time at France’s national training camp at Clairefontaine.
“Getting vaccinated is a personal decision. Some players may have been vaccinated. We know that vaccination is the only way to fight the virus. ”
Every adult in France is now eligible to receive a vaccine, with those under 50 having to make an appointment the next day until Monday.
From Tuesday, they will be able to book any available time slot.
France was drawn into Eurogroup F with Germany, Hungary and Portugal.
They will play two preparation matches before their opening on June 15 against Germany in Munich against Wales in Nice on June 2 and against Bulgaria on June 8 at the Stade de France.
Until then, France’s staff will work to put each player in the best physical shape at the end of a long club season.
“We are in the first part of the preparation. We have to put gasoline in the engine, ”said Deschamps.
“Not all players are at the same level of fitness and our job is to get them all in the best possible condition. ”
