Several people were killed in a shootout on Wednesday at a rail yard in the California Bay area, police said, the latest case of deadly gun violence in the United States.

The building where the incident took place is a control center for the region’s Valley Transportation Authority, which is also used to store trains and serves as a maintenance yard.
The VTA tweeted that its employees had been evacuated and transit services would not be affected.
