Reports of explosion and people trapped as fire ravages Ashford home – fr


People had to be rescued after being trapped in an explosion at a house in Ashford.
Residents of Mill View in Willesborough said they heard an explosion that rocked the street around 8 a.m.

A police spokesperson said: ‘Kent Police officers are currently working alongside colleagues from the Kent Fire and Rescue Service and the South East Coast Ambulance Service after being called to a report of an explosion at Mill View, Willesborough, Ashford at 7:57 a.m. on Tuesday.

“A number of people were reportedly trapped and released by the emergency services. Officers are working to determine if anyone else is missing.

“Officers are advising people to avoid the area and asking locals to keep windows closed. “

Some people living in houses along Osbourne Road, Church Road, Willesborough Lees and near the Windmill all said they felt their homes shake.

Emergency services are currently on the scene and several roads have been closed.

One resident said: “Looks like only one house is on fire.

Four fire engines were dispatched. Gas engineers were also called to the scene.

A spokesperson said: ‘Kent Fire and Rescue Service is at the scene of a house fire following a reported explosion in Mill View, Willesborough, Ashford. “

The London Air Ambulance was also dispatched and landed in a field behind houses on Osborne Road.

A spokesperson for the South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) said: “We can confirm our presence at an incident in Mill View, Willesborough, Ashford which was reported to us shortly before 8 am.

“Ambulance teams, including our hazardous area response team, are on the scene along with fellow police and firefighters.

“The air ambulance service also dispatched two road vehicles to the scene.

“We are evaluating patients at the scene and will post further details when they become available.”
