Province to announce additional COVID-19 measures for schools – fr

WINNIPEG – The province is set to make an announcement on additional COVID-19 measures for schools.

Education Minister Cliff Cullen and Dr. Brent Roussin, the province’s Chief Provincial Public Health Officer, will speak at a press conference Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the Manitoba Legislature .

CTV News will broadcast the announcement.

New public health orders took effect Sunday morning, addressing the growing number of COVID-19 cases closing many facilities and limiting capacity in others.

At a press conference on Friday in which the measures were announced, Dr Roussin was asked whether schools would be moved to distance learning. He responded by saying that the province is actively exploring this possibility.

“We haven’t made a decision on this, but we’ll be able to provide more information on this in the very near future,” Roussin said.

The Manitoba Teacher’s Society has called on the province to switch to Code Red in high-risk areas, including Winnipeg.

This is a developing story. More details to come.
