Prince Harry took a subtle look at the Royal Family during a bonus episode of his Apple + TV series, The Me You Can’t See, which released Thursday night.

In an interview with Glenn Close, Harry spoke about the “shame” families feel about mental health, before bonding with Robin Williams’ son Zak, who also appeared on the show.

“Your father was one of my real heroes,” Harry cooed after Zak joined the show via a video link. “He has brought so much joy and entertainment to so many people.”

The Royal pointed out that he and Zak were both unable to properly mourn the deaths of their famous parents amid so much publicity.

Robin Williams committed suicide in 2014, sparking an international wave of mourning on a scale similar to the untimely death of Princess Diana in 1997.

Speaking candidly about his father’s death, Zak explained that he felt a disconnect between his private emotions and the collective public mourning that had occurred.

“For my part, I only had the opportunity to focus on the private grieving process for a year and a half after my father passed away,” he said.

Harry nodded, saying, “We have a lot of shared experience when you see so many people in the world crying for someone they feel they know better than you because you can’t cry yourself.” ”

Elsewhere during the bonus episode, Harry spoke to Oprah – with whom he produced the mental health docuseries. The two reflected on what they had learned during the filming of the series.

They agreed that the best advice they had learned was to tell a suicidal person that they were “not alone”.

The prince added that he now feels better equipped to respond to someone who tells him he is considering ending his life.

“So many people are afraid to be the recipients of this conversation [from a suicidal person] because they don’t feel like they have the right tools to give the right advice, ”Harry said.

‘But what you mean is’ You are there’. Listen, because listening and participating in this conversation is without a doubt the best first step you can take.

It comes after Harry confessed in a previous episode that he didn’t know how to react when his wife Meghan Markle told him in early 2019 that she felt suicidal.

During this episode, Harry recalled when a pregnant Meghan told him she wanted to kill herself shortly before an engagement at the Royal Albert Hall.

“I’m a little ashamed of the way I handled this,” Harry revealed.

“And of course, because of the system we were in and the responsibilities and duties we had, we had a quick hug and then had to change to jump into a convoy with a police escort and go to the Royal Albert. Room for a charity event. Then step into a camera wall and pretend everything is fine.

Thursday’s bonus episode of The Me You Can’t See also featured conversations with mental health experts and celebrities about suicide.

Actress Glenn Close made an appearance, saying it’s important to speak openly about struggles with suicidal ideation.

Close admitted she felt ashamed of not realizing that a family member had mental health issues.

Harry intervened, saying, “We feel an element of shame because we wonder” How could we not have seen it? How could we not know? How did you not feel comfortable enough to share this with me? ”

He did not say if he was directly referring to his own reaction to Meghan telling him that she no longer wanted to live.
