Kovacic’s thigh injury kept him from facing former club Real Madrid and will be out again this weekend.
“We still have some training to do, but Kova is unfortunately still absent,” Thomas Tuchel told reporters on Friday.
“We hope to bring him back maybe for Arsenal [on Wednesday] and then hopefully for Wembley. It will be tight, even for Arsenal, but for tomorrow he is sure. I think all the others are available. ”
Tuchel has plenty of options though, so Jorginho, Mason Mount and the imperious N’Golo Kante should continue in the middle.
Cesar Azpilicueta is likely to give way after another jaw-dropping show, which means Reece James will be coming for a chance to impress. The same can be said of Marcos Alonso to give Ben Chilwell a rest and Kurt Zouma who could possibly replace Thiago Silva.
Timo Werner has scored against Real Madrid but could leave the attacking focal point to Kai Havertz, who is another who seems to be reborn under Tuchel.
