Mark York, who was best known for his role as Billy Merchant on Office, has left us. Variety reports that the actor died from a brief and unexpected illness at Miami Valley Hospital in Ohio. The exact cause of death has not yet been confirmed. He was 55 years old.

York is better known as Billy, first appearing in the season two episode “The Injury” and appearing in four episodes in total. Billy was the manager of the Scranton Business Park property until Dwight bought him out in season six.

York made her screen debut with a role in the 1997 romantic drama Go until the end which starred Ben Affleck, Jeremy Davies, Rachel Weisz and Rose McGowan. He moved to California after graduating from Anderson University in Indiana, where he earned three degrees. He had an uncredited role in AI: Artificial Intelligence then went on to have guest roles in CSI: NY and 8 simple rules. He appeared in the 2007 film starring C. Thomas Howell Fighting words and the police drama Profile.
