PRESS RELEASE
HEALTH OF NOVA SCOTIA

Nova Scotia Health labs continue to process a high volume of COVID-19 tests. This means that many routine or elective laboratory tests have been temporarily reduced or suspended, including routine blood draws and water tests.

People whose tests are needed for the immediate diagnosis or management of a chronic disease, including those receiving chemotherapy, should continue to make appointments for lab tests.

Residents of central and eastern areas are urged not to make appointments for routine blood collection until further notice.

Water analyzes in the central area also continue to be temporarily suspended. In addition, non-emergency residential water testing is still temporarily suspended at Nova Scotia health facilities in the West Zone. A list of other water testing facilities is available on the Nova Scotia Department of Environment website: https://novascotia.ca/nse/water / waterlabs.asp

This temporary suspension of routine laboratory analyzes will continue to be reviewed and services will be gradually reintroduced if necessary.
