And Nicki Minaj thinks taking a break from the music industry has been good for her mental health chatting with fans on social media.

The 38-year-old rap star admitted she has been in a much better state of mind since giving birth to her son in September and has been able to bond with her little one.

During a question-and-answer session on Twitter, Nicki was asked if she had benefited from the hiatus as her latest album, Queen, was released in 2018.

“Excellent question. Yes. It was so necessary for me. I appreciate the guys so much for waiting, ”she said.

“But yes, I really needed this zen for an important moment of bonding with my son, to come back fluent with the writing and otherwise I don’t want to discuss yet. If you know you know.

The Super Bass singer welcomed her first child with husband Kenneth Petty on September 30 in Los Angeles.

“He would kick really hard. But it was going a bit like #SeeingGreen b4 I took it out, ”she said. “During my pregnancy I could only play soothing music to him like Enya / classical etc, he would be more relaxed. That’s why I couldn’t finish my album before I started.

Robert Maraj died in February after being hit by a car during a hit and run, and earlier this month Nicki broke her silence on the tragedy.

The Starships hitmaker is still not ready to discuss the incident in detail, but she did offer fans an update on her sanity in an article on her website.

Nicki, whose full name is Onika Tanya Maraj, wrote: “I still can’t really bring myself to discuss my father’s passing; I can say this has been the most devastating loss of my life. I want to call him all the time. More so now that he’s gone. Life is funny like that. May his soul rest in paradise. He was much loved and will be sadly missed.

She paid tribute to her father on what would have been his birthday on Sunday, May 16, with a photo captioned: “Happy Birthday Daddy. I miss you so much. So much. So much. Rest in peace. Oh my God.’
