News conference live from Downing Street as government issues update on new overseas holiday rules – with ‘green’ and ‘red’ lists for countries

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps is leading a Downing Street briefing tonight on the next phase of the roadmap restrictions which will be lifted in 10 days.
It is generally expected to announce a traffic light system for international travel – countries being placed on the green, amber and red lists.

A very small number of countries are expected to be on the “green” list because of their vaccination figures, infection rates and new variants.

Vacationers will finally find out which destinations they can visit this summer without having to self-quarantine, as the government is expected to unveil details of the travel “green list”.

Portugal, Iceland and Malta are among those expected to make the cut, along with Gibraltar and Israel.

However, Spain and Greece should probably start on the Amber List first.

The press conference is scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
